What the market watchers said
Vinod Nair, head of research at Geojit Investments, said the recovery was led by sustained IT buying after strong quarterly results and upbeat management commentary. He said softer crude oil prices and a stronger rupee also supported sentiment, while FMCG stocks remained under pressure over concerns about Q2 margin compression from higher input costs. He added that sustaining the recovery will require broader earnings growth beyond IT, along with better domestic demand and easing margin pressure, and that global inflation and geopolitical risks warrant caution.
