Investors often wonder if they can trade on Christmas Eve, especially after recent announcements about federal holidays.
Even though the White House declared December 24 a federal holiday, the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq will remain open.
Both exchanges will close early at 1 PM Eastern Time. Normally they trade from 9:30 AM to 4 PM ET.
The US bond market, overseen by the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association, will close a bit later, at 2 PM ET.
Christmas Day, December 25, is a full holiday. All major US exchanges will be closed, and trading will resume on December 26 with regular hours.
Remember, this is just an overview, not a prediction. Always do your own research or talk to a financial adviser before making decisions.
