The Indian IPO market had a blockbuster year in 2025, with a record 365 companies listing their shares.
Huge fundraising and broad participation
These IPOs raised about ₹1.95 trillion in 2025 alone, beating the previous record of ₹1.90 trillion. Over the last two years, 701 companies have gathered ₹3.8 trillion, showing strong demand from both retail and foreign investors.
Diverse sectors and company ages
Unlike earlier years that were dominated by a few hot sectors, 2025 saw listings across technology, fintech, renewable energy and more. Companies younger than 20 years contributed roughly half of the total funds raised, highlighting the appetite for newer firms.
Main board vs. SME listings
- 106 IPOs were on the main board, raising ₹1.83 trillion.
- 259 were SME IPOs, adding the rest of the capital.
- Main‑board issues accounted for about 94 % of total fundraising.
What this means for investors
Retail investors continued to pour money into mutual‑fund SIPs, keeping confidence high. Domestic institutional investors added a net USD 87 billion in 2025, 39 % more than the year before.
Outlook
Analysts expect the IPO pipeline to stay strong, driven by steady retail interest and solid foreign inflows.
