Hyundai Motor India is stepping into the commercial mobility market with a new line of taxis called the Prime Taxi range, aimed at helping fleet owners and independent drivers keep costs low and earnings high.
What Is the Prime Taxi Range?
The Prime lineup includes two models:
- Prime HB – a hatchback
- Prime SD – a sedan
Both cars come with a 1.2‑litre Kappa engine that can run on petrol or CNG.
Pricing and Fuel Efficiency
Prices start at:
- ₹5,99,900 for the Prime HB
- ₹6,89,900 for the Prime SD
Hyundai says the fuel efficiency is around 27.3 km per kg of CNG for the hatchback and 28.4 km per kg for the sedan, helping drivers save on fuel.
Finance and Warranty Support
To make the vehicles easier to acquire, Hyundai offers finance plans with up to 72 months of repayment. There are also extended warranty packages covering the 4th and 5th year or up to 180,000 km, whichever comes first. This reduces unexpected maintenance costs and keeps the total cost of ownership low—about 47 paise per kilometre, according to Hyundai.
Service Network and Fleet Care
Buyers can rely on Hyundai’s nationwide sales and service network, which promises quick servicing and maximum vehicle uptime. Dedicated fleet‑care advisors will be available at dealerships to assist taxi operators.
Impact on Taxi Operators
The Prime Taxi cars are built for high‑usage, offering reliable performance, comfortable rides for passengers, and lower operating expenses. Hyundai hopes the models will help drivers increase daily earnings while keeping maintenance predictable.
Market Reaction
Following the announcement, Hyundai Motor India’s shares fell slightly, closing at ₹2,300.9 on the NSE, down 0.88%.
