Both the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and Nasdaq will not trade on Thursday, Dec 25. The market will reopen on Friday, Dec 26.
Half‑day session on Christmas Eve
On Wednesday, Dec 24, the exchanges close early at 1 p.m. Eastern (11:30 p.m. IST). The bond market also ends early at 2 p.m. Eastern.
At the opening bell on Dec 24, the Dow Jones fell 0.09% to 48,399.74, the S&P 500 slipped 0.01% to 6,909.09, and the Nasdaq dropped 0.06% to 23,542.31.
Next market holiday – New Year’s Day 2026
After Christmas, the next scheduled closure is on Thursday, Jan 1 2026, for New Year’s Day. The market will resume normal trading on Friday, Jan 2.
